Hello Everyone!

This is Ken Taylor the drummer and web site creator(I guess you can call me a webmaster) for the Bob Uleck Polka Relations Band.  After reviewing this "What's New" page of our website, I have decided it needs some new life.  I'm sorry for not updating it regularly in the past.  I'm still wondering where 2009 went to.

I have decided to turn this page into a "Blog" and see how it goes.  In the past this web page was too informative and not personal enough.  That is a hard habit for me to break, since I also work as a full time engineer.

Any how I would first like to thank everyone that attanded our last performance at the Holy Trinity Church "Polka Night" Dance on Saturday January 16th.   A good time was had by all.  Congratulations to all the Holy Trinity Church members that organized and ran the dance on a job well done.   We really love playing for your social events.

In this first blog posting I would like to ask for input from our fans and vistors to this web-site on what you like or dislike about this web-site.  Are there any new features that you would like to see on this web-site?  Please send me an e-mail to

ken_taylor@bobuleckpolkarelations.com

with any questions or ideas that you have.  I can even post your questions on this page with your name if you wish.  This is my first attempt at ever creating a web-site and I am learning as I go.  Actually, it's a lot of fun but just takes a little extra time to keep it going.

I also wish that everyone will visit our Guest Book page and write us a little note.  We would love to hear from you.

Well, I will sign off for today and be back soon with a new posting.

Hello Everyone!

The Bob Uleck Polka Relations Band played our second performance in the month of January, at the Erie Soldiers and Sailors Home last Saturday.(Sorry but these performances were not open to the public.)  It was very gratifying to be able to perform for our veterans, and bring a little joy to their afternoon.  It is truly because of them and their sacrifices, that we are free to play in a band such as ours and keep Polka music alive.  We thank all of you!

As we have been mentioning at our performances, keep an eye open for the Big Joe Polka Show on the RFD television network.  As you probably remember, the Bob Uleck Polka Relations Band performed for a Live taping of the Big Joe Polka Show at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center last October.  The Big Joe TV crew recorded an hours worth of our Polka music, along with many other polka bands.  These taped performances were then to be edited and shown periodically on the Big Joe Polka television show.
We were told by the TV crew that segments of our performance would start to be shown in 2010.  We don't exactly know what date, but we anticipate it will be coming up real soon.  I will notify everyone on our e-mail list as soon as I know a date.  So if you would like to receive an e-mail notification of our upcoming TV appearance or any other of our band performances, please join our e-mail list by clicking here.  You can also click the "Join our Mailing List" button in the menu to the left.  If you currently do not have access to the RFD network on your local cable or satellite line-up you can follow this link for more information on the RFD channel.
If you know of a social event, wether public or private, that you believe needs the sweet sounds of Polka music, please contact us.  We would love to come and play for you.  Also if you have a local club or dance hall that would be interested in having us play, please let us know and we can contact them to arrange a date.

A special thank you goes out to Francis Pavolko of Celina, Ohio, for the kind words about our web-site and for signing our Guest Book.  I'm glad you like our web-site.  Remember to let me know if you have any new ideas on items you would like to see on our site.

Also remember our next performance on Valentines Day, Sunday, February 14 at the Wesleyville American Legion from 3:00-6:00 pm.  From everything I have heard, we are going to have a good crowd and a great time.  Hope to see you there.  Don't forget to come up and say hello to me and the rest of the band.  We would love to get to know you better.

Remember you can always e-mail at:

ken_taylor@bobuleckpolkarelations.com

with any questions or ideas, or stop in and sign our guest book.

Well I will sign off for now and be back later.

Hello Everyone,

This month has been filled with highs and lows.  On a high note the Bob Uleck Polka Relations Band performed at the American Legion Wesleyville Post 571 on Valentines Day.  We thank everyone that braved the weather to come and have a good time. We had a large showing with many new faces.  We were grateful to have Miss Polonaise 2009-10 of Erie attend the dance.  She was truly a highlight of any Valentine's Day dance.

On a low note, as I'm sure everyone has heard, a very good friend of the band, Ted Yurkiewicz, took ill suddenly at the dance and later passed away on Tuesday, Febraury 16.  Ted was a very good friend of the band and truly dedidicated to his Polish heritage.  We will miss his graceful dancing and his everlasting smile.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, so they can try and find comfort in his absence. Ted was laid to rest on Monday, February 22.  May the peace and love of the Lord be with you, Amen.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Everyone can claim to be a little Irish on St. Patrick's Day just like everybody is Polish on Dyngus Day.  Yes all us us of Polish decent are waiting for our day in the spotlight on Easter Monday better known as Dyngus Day.  I could spend a lot of time describing the origins of Dyngus Day, but a good informative website link is listed below.

http://www.dyngusdaybuffalo.com/

This is one of my favorite Dyngus Day websites so please visit it and enjoy.

Also I don't want you to forget that the Bob Uleck Polka Relations Band will be celebrating Dyngus Day with a polka dance at the Kosciuszko Polish Home in Dunkirk, NYon April 5 from 4:30 - 8:30 pm.  Come on out and join us for the celebration.  For more information and a map, visit our Upcoming Shows page.

Also the Bob Uleck Polka Relations Band will be playing at a "new" location in Erie at the Polish Falcons Club 431 East 3rd St. starting on May .  For more information vist our Upcoming Shows page.

Well that's all for now and I will be back soon.

It's been a while since my last update.  I have been quite busy but now its time to get back to some serious Polka News.  First I would like to thank everyone that came to celebrate Dyngus Day 2010 with us at the Kosciuszko Polish Home in Dunkirk, NY.  A good time was had by all, and we will be back again in 2011 for another Dyngus Day celebration.

I would also like everyone to take note of our next Polka Dance on Sunday, May 2 from 3:00-6:00 pm.  The location for us will be a new venue at the Polish Falcons Club on 431 East 3rd St in Erie, PA.  We hope to see everyone there and to have a good time.  Click on the Upcoming Shows button on the left of your screen for more information.

I will be adding more upcoming performances to this webpage in the next few days.  The spring and summer Polka Events are starting to fill up fast.  I will be adding these new events, so check back soon.

Hello Everyone!

What a great time we had at the Polish Falcons Club in Erie on Sunday May 2 and at the American Legion Carl Neff in Wesleyville on Sunday May 9.  It was great to see everyone again.  The weather is finally heating up and the polka dancing is even getting hotter.  It was nice to see so many mothers at the American Legion for our Mother's Day Polka Dance.  Take some time and look at all of the pictures from these perfomances on the Photos of Past Events page of this website.

We have been working on many new job bookings and hope to bring you some really good news soon.  Keep checking back on the Upcoming Shows page of this website for news on our upcoming performances.  The spring and summer Polka Events are starting to fill up fast.

Talk with you all real soon.

Ken
